MechDuels is now Live!

From the same design team behind the acclaimed online strategy game Duels.com® comes MechDuels, a multiplayer game on a massively mechanical level and is playable within an Internet browser. Consisting of head to head, turn-based gameplay, opponents battle massive mech creations against one another. Upon registration, players receive a free mech chassis, the 80-ton Jaguar and after completing 3 short tutorial missions the 40-ton Sparrow, with enough equipment to get started. In-game level-up achievements are rewarded with free “crate” packs containing random assortments of weapons, mods and systems to improve gameplay and enhance mechs through customization.

Beta Update 5-26-2009

  • Incendiary damage bug causing error/stall should be fixed.
  • Fragmentary damage should now be calculated and displayed correctly and apply properly.
  • Energy weapons should now display accuracy changes in the target’s statistics window.
  • Particle weapons should now display evasion changes in the target’s statistics window.
  • Critical hit animation has been re-added to the battle viewer.
  • Out of range animation has been re-added to the battle viewer.
  • Mechs no longer continue to fire at defeated opponents.
  • For Beta, added core crates as an added reward for level up (level 9 and up).
  • Bulletins have been added to your avatar page.  Click your dog tag to view.
  • User list has been enabled.  You can directly challenge users online and view their avatar page.

Major content update.

  • Weapon damage types have been added.
  • All weapons now have one damage type from the following list.
  1. Kinetic - basic damage.
  2. Fragmentary - damage on hit and collateral damage to surrounding   units.
  3. Incendiary - damage on hit with a continual burn effect over time.
  4. Energy - damage on hit and reduces target’s accuracy.
  5. Particle - damage on hit and reduces target’s evasion.
  • Weapon damage has been modified to reflect its damage type.
  • Repair kit no longer heals flat damage but instead a % of health, and is no longer an activated ability.  It should heal automatically at the beginning of the equipped mech’s action.
  • Weapon, mod and system names have been improved.
  • Damage type icons have been added to the mech builder.
  • Battle viewer damage display has been enhanced.
  • Searching and canceling feedback has been added to the quick battle functionality.
  • New player user flow has been modified.  There are now a total of 3 tutorial missions that should help a new player familiarize themselves with game mechanics.
  • Added mech rewards (for beta only) when you level up, you should see these at level 6 and above.

Another battle viewer update.

  • Delay between mechs firing and passing action to the next mech should be resolved.
  • Mouse over reticle has been removed, mech statistics on mouse over has been enhanced.
  • Mech health bar has been moved from reticle and placed in middle statistics bar.
  • When mousing over a square that you can fire or move in, a square highlight has been added.
  • Pass has been removed as a battle option.

Beta Update - 5/19/2009

  • Improved overall stability in the battle viewer.
  • Battle viewer lock up issue should be resolved.
  • Mechs remaining on the battlefield that have taken lethal damage issue should be resolved.
  • Mechs not appearing on the battlefield issue should be resolved.
  • Reduced the placement and match time for a 120 ton match. Placement is now 1 minute and battle time is 3 minutes for each player.
  • Animation speed has been increased. Attacks should fire faster in combat.

We will be making more frequent updates in the coming days, and hope to get more mechs to try out by the end of the week.
